We recently had the opportunity of sitting down with this 26 year-old hit maker, who told us how Blazetrak helped start his journey as a serious producer. Since connecting with STREETRUNNER on Blazetrak, Tarik has produced for artists such as Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and John Legend. Recently, the French native signed with Universal Music France.
I was born and raised in Aulnay-sous-Bois, a town in the suburbs of Paris, France. When I was 12 years old, I started playing the Piano, focusing mainly on classical music. Several years later, as a 20-year-old in College, I became friendly with another student named Pils who produced music for a collective called Track Knights. I began dabbling in music production and before long, I joined the collective and started producing with them as well.
Before I found out about Blazetrak, I would spend any free time I had in front of the computer creating new beats. I would occasionally be able to get in touch with Professionals in the industry, but without a solid network, I found it quite difficult to really get my music out there.
So much has changed! The journey truly started when I saw that STREETRUNNER was accepting submissions through Blazetrak. Having been a big fan of his work for a while, I decided to submit several of my beats. A week later, STREETRUNNER sent me a video response expressing his interest in hearing more of what I’ve worked on! After exchanging a few emails, we started working on new projects together. At that point in time, we were working on about a beat a month, but I knew we could do so much more if we had some time in the studio together. So, the day after I graduated college, I got on a flight to Miami in the hopes of seeing what STREETRUNNER and I could get done in the studio together.
Since connecting with STREETRUNNER on Blazetrak, I’ve produced songs for Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, The Game, John Legend, Meek Mill, French Montana, DJ Khaled, Royce Da 5'9, and many other talented Artists.
I actually just signed with Universal Music France! Although I’ve lived in France my whole life, all of my placements have been in the United States. This new opportunity will surely allow me more opportunities with French rappers, artists, and other great people involved in the music scene here. In terms of projects in the US, me and STREETRUNNER have an amazing song on Meek Mill's upcoming album with a lot of other stuff coming after but I can't really talk about that as of now!
WORK AND NETWORK! You have to work really hard every single day! I’ve missed a lot of parties, going out with friends, that type of stuff, just being behind my computer making new music. But that’s the only way to do it. And it was all worth it. I know it’s tough, but you also have to be very critical with your work and never settle. Like for example, when you’re working on a project and adding layers, make sure each one you add is the best option possible. If you ever get stuck, think about the complete vision for the track. You have to be very critical about everything you make and make sure it is A1. Ask yourself questions like, “If Lil Wayne were on this song, how would I want this section to be?” This being said, don’t overdo the production. You need to let the track breathe.
